PALE DI SAN MARTINO

PALE DI SAN MARTINO
The Pale di San Martino, a jewel of the Dolomites, stretch between Trentino and Belluno in a spectacle of majestic peaks. Covering about 240 km², this mountain group, discovered in 1788 by the Marquis Déodat de Dolomieu, boasts the Pale di San Martino plateau, a lunar expanse of rock at between 2,500 and 2,800 m above sea level. Within the Paneveggio - Pale di San Martino Nature Park, this unique landscape even inspired the writer Dino Buzzati. Declared a World Heritage Site in 2009, it is an ode to the natural beauty of the Dolomites.
